Shake the Dust

Shake the Dust
This is for the freshman. For the imprisoned mad men. For all those people who are still dreamin'. Shake the dust. This is for the junior varsity. For the lack of money. For the child with a sick tummy. For all the dummies. Shake the dust. This is for the minor leaguers. For the cheaters. For the beaters. For the country singers. For the first losers....second place. Shake the dust. This is for the Mondays. For the confused and the dazed. For those lost in a mind maze. For the city with all the smoky haze. Shake the dust. This is for the washed up quarterback who now sits at home on Sundays and watches football and thinks "I can still do that" when he really can't. This is for anybody who guards Kevin Durant. This is for someone who feels as small as an ant, in this world. Shake the dust. This is for all 28 days in February. For the unbelieved in tooth fairy. For those allergic to dairy. For the people who will never marry. Shake the dust. This is for the fat boys, not just the fat girls. For the broken toys. For the forgotten joys. Shake the dust. This is for the people who drink diet soda. For the star athletes from South Dakota, because they don’t have the same opportunities as the athletes from Florida. Shake the dust like you are a chimpanzee with Parkinson’s. Because as the dust and dust piles up, it will be harder and harder to shake it up. And turn around, before the dust buries you under the ground. Shake the dust, because I know, we know, and you know, it’s you’re only shot to. Shake the dust.
